Reasons for Change in Appropriation

This appropriation will increase by $142,000 to $14.088 million for 2007/08. The reasons for the changes are:

  • an increase of $75,000 by way of transfer for Futurewatch activity now being undertaken by the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology (MoRST)
  • an increase of $80,000 relating to third-party use of audio-visual equipment in the "Future Foods" roadshow
  • a decrease of $115,000 relating to the provision for tax on overseas entitlements and allowances for staff posted overseas
  • an increase of $75,000 for activity carried forward from 2006/07 relating to science communication and to travel of the Ministerial mission to the United States
  • an increase of $7,000 relating to attendance in Japan at the joint working party for closer economic ties, and
  • an increase of $20,000 to cover increased cost of employer contributions to the State Sector Retirement Savings Scheme.

Reasons for Change in Appropriation

This appropriation will increase by $30,000 to $3.257 million for 2008/09. The reason for the change is the transfer of $180,000 from 2006/07 relating to the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems initiative (IMS) and linkages to European Commission funded initiatives,  and $150,000 to 2008/09 relating to the implementation of the New Zealand - European Union International Research Staff Exchange Scheme.
