Wellbeing reports

In 2020, the Public Finance Act (1989) was amended to require the Treasury to produce a wellbeing report at least once every four years. Using indicators, the report must describe:

  • the state of wellbeing in New Zealand
  • how the state of wellbeing in New Zealand has changed over time, and
  • the sustainability of, and any risk to, the state of wellbeing in New Zealand.

The first wellbeing report, Te Tai Waiora: Wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand 2022, was released in November 2022.
