The Treasury has incorporated into this website working papers and research papers and associated material formerly published by the New Zealand Productivity Commission.
Analytical Papers (2015-2023)
Analytical Papers contain analysis of data and other research on a variety of social and economic issues that has been carried out by Treasury staff or that has been commissioned by the Treasury or Ministers.
Discussion Papers (Living Standards Framework) (2018-2021)
The Treasury's aim in publishing the Discussion Papers (Living Standards Framework) series is to encourage discussion on the topics covered.
Productivity Papers (2008-2010)
This series of Treasury research papers focuses on New Zealand's productivity performance and policy.
Policy Perspectives Papers (2005-2009)
Policy Perspectives Papers discuss ideas, analysis and empirical research relevant to topical policy issues.
Monthly Economic Indicators (2008-2020)
The Monthly Economic Indicators (MEI) publication is a stock-take of economic data releases.
New Zealand Economic and Financial Overviews (1997-2016)
New Zealand Economic and Financial Overviews were prepared by the New Zealand Debt Management Office.
New Zealand Activity Index (2020-2021)
The New Zealand Activity Index (NZAC) has been discontinued. It was produced in response to a need for timely data on impact of COVID-19 on the economy in 2020 and 2021.
Regional Activity Indices (2021)
The Regional Activity Indices (RAIs) are a set of experimental indicators that seek to track how regional economies are performing in near real-time. RAIs were only published February to July 2021.
