Submissions on the Statement of Funding Approach - Funding Strategy for the Depositor Compensation Scheme

The Treasury – Te Tai Ōhanga recently held the first stage of public consultation on the funding strategy for the Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS), that will be established by the Deposit Takers Act 2023.

The Treasury – Te Tai Ōhanga received 18 written submissions on the consultation document: Statement of Funding Approach - Funding Strategy for the Depositor Compensation Scheme.

The Treasury – Te Tai Ōhanga is publicly releasing all submissions received, alongside a Summary of Submissions that provides an overview of the themes and suggestions raised by submitters.

The Treasury – Te Tai Ōhanga is considering the feedback as it prepares for a second round of consultation in early 2024. The second consultation is expected to focus on the funding strategy for the DCS in light of public feedback, how the operating costs of the DCS will be reflected in levies, how the fund should be invested, and the proposed operational arrangements for providing funding through the Crown backstop.
