Macro-prudential Policy Memorandum of Understanding Information Release

In June 2013 the Treasury released documents relating to the Government's decision to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on Macro-prudential Policy ('the Macro-prudential MOU'). 

The Macro-prudential MOU is an agreement between the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, which defines macro-prudential policy and the operating guidelines that the Reserve Bank shall operate under when considering the use of macro-prudential policy.

The Macroprudential MOU can be found on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's website (www.rbnz.govt.nz).

Information Withheld#

Key to sections of the Official Information Act 1982 under which information has been withheld.

Certain information in these documents has been withheld under one or more of the following sections of the Official Information Act, as applicable:

  • 9(2)(a) - to protect the privacy of natural persons, including deceased people
  • 9(2)(f)(iv) - to maintain the current constitutional conventions protecting the confidentiality of advice tendered by ministers and officials

In some cases information has been withheld because it is out of scope or not relevant to an Official Information Act request.

In preparing this Information Release, the Treasury has considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of the Official Information Act.
