The Treasury has published new digital guidance to help policymakers implement He Ara Waiora into their work.
The handbook contains tools for each stage of the policy cycle including step-by-step guides and templates. It also provides a comprehensive introduction into the concepts of He Ara Waiora to build foundational understanding of the framework.
There is also a standalone template for the Impact Mapping Tool from the handbook. This is intended as a useful tool for policymakers with limited time to work through a problem and is best used after reading the relevant sections of the handbook. The word version will allow you to enter your own text into each field.
He Ara Waiora was developed by Ngā Pūkenga, a group of Māori thought leaders, to reflect a te ao Māori view of wellbeing and has been used to provide insights from different cultural perspectives and knowledge systems.
The handbook was developed in collaboration between Ngā Pūkenga and Treasury staff, with input from policy staff of other government agencies.
