The New Zealand Productivity Commission was disestablished by parliament in February 2024. This annual report covers the period 1 July 2023 to 29 February 2024. The Commission operated until 29 February 2024, with all liabilities transferred to the Treasury. The contents of this report cover Commission activity up to 29 February 2024, and include Commission financial statements up to closure of financial accounts, administered by the Treasury.
The New Zealand Productivity Commission (the Commission) was an independent Crown entity. The Commission completed in-depth inquiry reports on topics selected by the Government, carried out productivity-related research, and promoted understanding of productivity issues. The Commission aimed to provide insightful, well-informed, and accessible advice that would lead to the best possible improvement in the wellbeing of New Zealanders.
