Abstract
With growing recognition of the potential to leverage New Zealand's 80% renewable electricity for national and consumer benefit, Andrew will talk about the opportunities of bringing new technology together with our desire for better social outcomes. He heads the retail energy business that developed this country's leading pre-pay energy service, GLOBUG – a breakthrough for income-constrained families, and real proof that technology, commercial innovation and social conscience can work in harmony. Our country is now on the cusp of major evolutionary change – where consumers will have unprecedented choice; electricity will drive our cars cheaply and cleanly; solar electricity will become increasingly economic; and the renewable energy which we have already enjoyed for decades will truly become the envy of many competing economies. Andrew will draw on his experience with technology-driven services to explore future possibilities for delivering socially and commercially sustainable energy services to Kiwis.
