Standard requirements for applications about “ownerless property”

This section provides links to pages containing information about the Treasury’s standard requirements for dealing with the following types of “ownerless property”:

As a very wide range of property may be “ownerless property”, the standard requirements are restricted to common types of property. If you have queries about a type of property not listed, please contact the Treasury Legal team at [email protected].

Before processing any application, we must be satisfied that the property has vested in the Crown and that there will be no claims against the Crown resulting from the discharge.

We encourage applicants to provide draft documentation to the Treasury Legal Team for comment prior to issuing final documentation. This allows the Treasury Legal Team to identify:

  • any issues with documentation, and/or
  • any other documents that we require to process the application.
