New Zealand was the lead sponsor for a Public Sector Governance Seminar held on September 10 in Da Nang, Viet Nam. The co-sponsors for this seminar were Malaysia and Japan. This seminar was held under the auspices of APEC Leaders' Agenda for Implementing Structural Reform. The timing of the seminar coincided with the third round of senior officials’ and related meetings for APEC in 2006.
The key objective of the seminar was to raise awareness among APEC economies of the importance of good public sector governance for successful structural reform. The seminar also highlighted the key contributors to effective governance, taking into account the issues facing developed and developing economies.
