Entry criteria

Who can enter?

Students currently enrolled in any degree programme or higher at an approved New Zealand tertiary education institution, and studying any discipline are eligible to enter this competition.

Direct relatives of Treasury employees may submit essays, and are eligible to be selected as finalists but are ineligible to receive a study grant.

For these purposes, a "direct relative" is a child, parent, or sibling, including step-parents, children, and siblings.

How do I enter?

Answer one of the provided questions in the format of your choosing (2,000 word essay, A3 presentation, or five minute video). For an example on how to successfully structure an A3 see below.

  • Attach your submission as a PDF, Mp4, YouTube link or other commonly used file types saved with the following title – "Topic [x]_Last Name".
  • Please include a cover page that contains:
    • Your name
    • Your university
    • Your student ID number
    • The degree you are studying towards, your subject major, and your year level
    • Your postal address
    • A phone number we can reach you on
    • Your email address

Don't forget: All submissions are due by 29 July 2018 at 11:59pm and late submissions cannot be accepted.
