Overseas Investment Amendment Regulations: Implementing the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement

Government Inquiry into Foreign Trust Disclosure Rules
The Minister of Finance and the Minister of Revenue appointed John Shewan to constitute the Inquiry into Foreign Trust Disclosure Rules. The Inquiry was established on 19 April 2016 and was authorised to begin hearing evidence from 19 April 2016. The Inquiry is due to report to the Ministers on 30 June 2016.
Statutes Repeal Bill Consultation
The Treasury and the Parliamentary Counsel Office are seeking feedback on the Statutes Repeal Bill before it is introduced into Parliament. The Statutes Repeal Bill will repeal legislation that is unnecessary and spent.

Shares Plus Consultation
On 3 September 2012 the Prime Minister announced that the Government would undertake targeted consultation with Maori on the Waitangi Tribunal's 'Shares Plus' proposal before proceeding with the Mighty River Power initial public offering (IPO).
Extending the Mixed Ownership Model Consultation with Maori
The Government has announced that it will consult with Māori on legislative changes it considers are necessary to proceed with its policy of mixed ownership for four State-Owned Enterprises: Genesis Energy, Meridian Energy, Mighty River Power and Solid Energy.
Genesis Share Offer: Consultation with Maori
In November 2013 the Minister of Finance held three hui, in Tuai, Hamilton and Whanganui, to consult with iwi regarding the Government's intention to offer up to 49% of the shares in Genesis Energy to the public, subject to market conditions. The Treasury has released the presentations given by the Minister at the hui, as well as summaries of the discussions at each hui.
2025 Taskforce
As part of the Confidence and Supply agreement between the National and ACT parties reached immediately after the 2008 election, the Government committed to closing the income gap with Australia by 2025 and to establishing an advisory group both to report annually on progress towards achieving that goal and to make recommendations about how best to achieve it. Savings Working Group
The government has established the Savings Working Group to provide a point of reference for the government as it develops its medium-term savings strategies, and to stimulate a public discussion on issues of national saving in the New Zealand economy, linking this discussion to investment and growth.
