Media Statement: Market Sounding begins for the transfer of Tauranga and Invercargill social housing

Page updated 31 Aug 2015

Market sounding for the proposed transfer of approximately 1140 Tauranga and 370 Invercargill Housing New Zealand properties and tenancies to registered Community Housing Providers has commenced today and will end on 25 September 2015.

The Government announced in May that it was considering houses and tenancies in Tauranga and Invercargill for the first transfers.

During this phase we will obtain feedback from potential market participants on their level of interest in the transaction and whether the proposed commercial terms will deliver the outcomes we are seeking.

Once market sounding is complete, Ministers will consider the information provided and then make a decision on whether to proceed to Expression of Interest.

Potential participants are now able to download a copy of the Information Memorandum from GETS and we are seeking their responses to a set of questions in this document by 25 September 2015.

If you aren't registered on GETS and want a copy of the Information Memorandum please email socialhousing@treasury.govt.nz.
