Media StatementTreasury Releases March Working Papers

28 March 2002

The Treasury today released six new working papers in the March instalment of its Working Papers series.

Topics covered by this quarter's set of papers include:

  • an empirical examination of the way New Zealand regional labour markets adjust to changes in employment (Paper 02/01),
  • sources of information and the measurement of saving in New Zealand (Paper 02/02),
  • a paper discussing a basis for allocating roles appropriately between levels of government (Paper 02/03),
  • a framework for assessing the sustainability and current stance of fiscal policy (Paper 02/04),
  • a discussion of the economics and fiscal implications of population ageing (Paper 02/05),
  • a another paper reporting results from the Christchurch Health and Development Study, this time on ethnicity and early labour market experiences (Paper 02/06).

The papers can all be found at [www.treasury.govt.nz/publications/research-policy/wp].

The Treasury Working Papers series contains work in progress on a variety of economic and financial issues. The series aims to help to increase understanding of Treasury and its work, make this work available to a larger audience and to generate more informed debate on key issues. The series has been running since 1998.

The views expressed in the Working Papers are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the New Zealand Treasury. The paper is presented not as policy, but with a view to inform and stimulate wider debate.
