Camera crew:

If your news organisation needs camera crew and equipment at the lockup, you must indicate that with your RSVP. The lockup rules apply to camera crew.

Note to Editors:

The purpose of the lock-up is to provide a secure place for interested journalists and analysts to read the FSGNZ under embargo. Please note that there will be no presentations by the Minister of Finance or by the Secretary to The Treasury, as both will be travelling overseas at the time. Staff from the Treasury will be available to answer technical questions arising out of the FSGNZ. All relevant material will be posted on the Treasury website after the embargo is lifted.

Treasury rules for lock-ups

  • These rules apply to all analysts, journalists, camera crew, technicians or anyone attending the lockup who is not a staff member of the Treasury.
  • Other than escorted visits to the bathroom, nobody will be permitted to leave the lockup once documents have been distributed.
  • No information may be released or transmitted from the lockup until after the embargo has been lifted at 11:30am on Wednesday 10 October 2012.
  • Mobile phones must be surrendered to the Treasury for the duration of the lockup.
  • Data cards, wireless networking and other communication devices or services connected to or built in to laptop/mobile computers must be disconnected or switched off during the lockup.
  • Approximately 5 minutes before lifting the embargo, a Treasury staff member will indicate to attendees that it is permissible to establish and test connections. However, no information may be released or transmitted from the lockup until after the embargo has been lifted.
  • At 11.30am, a Treasury staff member will inform attendees that the embargo is lifted, the lock up is ended and that information may be released or transmitted.
  • Compliance with the embargo provisions is a serious matter. Any organisation or individual found to breach the embargo provisions may find that s/he and the organisation that s/he represents will be refused permission to attend future lockups hosted by the Treasury.
  • If there is an emergency such as a fire alarm, the lockup will be immediately ended and attendees will be asked to evacuate the building in order to ensure their safety.
