Registrations open to attend Half Year Economic & Fiscal Update Lock-Up

The Treasury’s 2016 Half Year Economic and Fiscal Update (HYEFU) and the Government’s 2017 Budget Policy Statement will be published on Thursday, 8 December.

Journalists and analysts are invited to register their interest to attend a briefing under lock-up conditions.

The lock-up will be held from 11.30am until 1.30pm on Thursday 8 December at Level 5, the Treasury, 1 The Terrace, Wellington.

The documents will be available from 11.30am. The Secretary to the Treasury, Gabriel Makhlouf, will open the briefing at 12.15pm. The Minister of Finance, the Hon Bill English, is expected to arrive at around 12.30pm to give a presentation, before opening the floor to questions.

As in previous years, priority for seats at the lock-up will be given to national and international news organisations and to economic and financial analysts attached to either financial institutions or national organisations that provide relevant specialist advisory services.

Registration of interest to attend indicates your acceptance of embargo provisions. Note all documents will be published on the Treasury’s website at or shortly after 1.30pm on the day.

RSVP: Please register your interest in attending the lock-up through the Treasury’s website http://www.treasury.govt.nz/budget/forecasts/2016hyefu-lockup before 5.00pm Wednesday 30 November advising the name and organisation of the people who would like to attend and detailing any particular technical requirements.

The Treasury will aim to contact those who have registered an interest to attend by COP Monday 5 December to either confirm or discuss registration applications. Numbers are restricted by the space available. Although we will make efforts to accommodate everyone, the number of people attending from any one organisation may be limited and some registrations may be declined.
