Treasury holds second vendor forum

The Treasury today held its second information session for vendors who provide business consulting services, Peter Mersi, Deputy Secretary, State Sector Performance Group said today.

"Creating better, smarter public services is one of the Government’s six key drivers to meet its objectives to permanently raise New Zealanders' living standards.

"The desire to deliver efficiencies in the back-office functions of the public sector is an important part of the Government’s wider commitment to free-up resources for priority frontline services," Peter Mersi said.

The Treasury’s briefings for vendors held last week and today were to outline the Treasury’s likely requirements for support as it explores opportunities to improve the efficiency of back-office functions.

"Subject to funding decisions, the first step in this process is to more precisely define the resources that are currently being committed to administrative and support services by individual state sector agencies in New Zealand" Peter Mersi said.

An understanding of the current position will enable the Treasury in tandem with stakeholders to assess the opportunities to change the way we deliver these services to improve their cost and quality.
