Tax Policy Costings Information Release

Late in 2004 Parliament's Finance and Expenditure Committee commissioned the Treasury to estimate the fiscal costs of the tax policies of three political parties. The Treasury engaged the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research to carry out this work.
The Secretary of the Treasury's letter of 15 March 2005 to the Chairperson of the Finance and Expenditure Committee outlines the process that Treasury adopted for contracting out the costings.
The Finance and Expenditure Committee released these costings on 1 June 2005. The reports are available on the NZIER web site.
