Bilateral Briefings Budget 2009 Information Release

Page updated 2 Jul 2009

A bilateral is a meeting held between a Vote Minister (or ministerial group) and the Minister of Finance to decide what will be included for their Vote in the overall Budget package to be considered by Cabinet.

Some Ministers whose Budget submissions were non-contentious did not have a bilateral meeting. Instead, they received a letter from the Minister of Finance outlining the decisions agreed – see Letters to Ministers.

See Deletions to Documents on the Budget 2009 Information Release home page for an explanation of why deletions may have been made to some of these documents.
