Preparing the Annual Report: Technical and Process Guide for Departments
Published 28 Jun 2013
A good annual report can be a powerful way to promote better understanding and debate about how resources and powers were used, what was achieved in comparison to what was planned, and how to improve future performance. By doing so, it has the potential to create greater public trust and confidence in the work of the department.
The guidance has been updated in June 2013. An overview of the updates can be found in the What's New section on page 3. Please note, once a department has completed their 2012/13 annual report, they should start to think about how to incorporate the opportunities the amended Public Finance Act will provide for their future planning and reporting. To assist this thinking, Annex 7 has been added to this document.
It is not anticipated that this guidance will change every year. Departments will be advised when amendments are made.
