- Guest Lecture: Dr Martine Durand - Measuring Well-Being: The OECD Better Life Initiative
- "The OECD has played a leadership role in the international efforts to measure well-being and progress. In 2011, the OECD launched the Better Life Initiative whose aim is to develop new and better indicators of well-being that can inform policymaking and help design better policies. Martine Durand's lecture will give an overview of the OECD Better Life Initiative, presenting selected results from the report How's Life? and the associated interactive web tool Your Better Life Index with a focus on how New Zealand compares with other OECD countries.

Little noticed, but vital for the nation's future prosperity, is the equally dramatic widening of the gap between the educational attainments of children growing up in rich and poor families.

At the same time human societies are also facing profound structural changes in their ecological, political economic social and technological contexts. These are increasingly seen to require not just incremental adjustments, but a Copernican shift in mind-sets – including new paradigms for thinking and action about the role of the state in relation to both the private market and to civil society.

- The US corporate income tax system has not changed significantly since 1986, while most other countries have dramatically reduced their statutory corporate income tax rates below the US rate. This paper analyzes the dynamic macroeconomic effects of a reduction in the US corporate tax rate financed in a revenue neutral manner through business tax base broadening.
