Analysis of Significant Trends

There is an increase of $2.136 million in Output Expenses due to the following:

  • An October Baseline Update expense transfer from 2009/10 of $609,000 relating to the Household Savings Survey.
  • An October Baseline Update increase in funding of $231,000 to cover increases in the Department's contributions to the Government Superannuation Fund.
  • An October Baseline Update transfer of output expenses between years within the 2011 Census of Population and Dwellings Multi Year Appropriation of $1.296 million.

The 2011 Census of Population and Dwellings scheduled to take place on 8 March 2011 was deferred following the Christchurch earthquake on 22 February 2011. At the stage of preparing this document a decision on the delivery of a future Census had not been made.

A new Other Expenses appropriation for 2010/11 of $1.684 million was established for the costs incurred in writing off or making good damage to departmental assets, and re-establishing departmental operations in Christchurch following the earthquake.
