Analysis of Significant Trends

Changes in non-tax revenue represents the reforecasting of expected dividends from the CRI's.

Changes in other expenses represents indemnities provided by the Crown to CRIs when they were established, relating to settling legal claims against the former science departments, cleaning up contaminated sites, meeting various statutory requirements, and reimbursing CRIs for redundancy payments in relation to staff not retained. Unused appropriation at year end is transferred into the next financial year.

Changes in output expenses represents an increase in resources applied to State-Owned Enterprises work resulting in a scaling back of work relating to Crown Research Institutes and Crown Financial Institutions.
