Overview of the Vote

The Minister of Civil Defence is responsible for appropriations in the Vote for the 2011/12 financial year covering the following:

Departmental Appropriations

  • a total of $4.201 million for the management of the national emergency readiness, response and recovery capability, including maintenance of the National Crisis Management Centre in a state of readiness, national training and education and coordination and management of central government's response and recovery activities
  • a total of $957,000 for the provision of policy advice and other support services to the Minister on civil defence and emergency management
  • a total of $5.794 million for the development and implementation of policies and advice on the civil defence and and emergency management sector, and delivery of national information and education programmes.

Non-Departmental Appropriations

  • a total of $2 million for emergency expenses
  • a total of $889,000 for local authorities for emergency management preparation.
