Entry Criteria

Page updated 17 Aug 2017

Who can enter?

Students currently enrolled at any New Zealand university, at any level (either undergraduate or postgraduate), and studying any discipline are eligible to enter this competition.

Direct relatives of Treasury employees as at 1 October 2017 may submit essays, but are ineligible to receive a study grant. If direct relatives of Treasury employees do submit an entry, however, they will be eligible to be selected as finalists and invited to the Treasury to present the analysis in their submission.

For these purposes, a "direct relative" is a child, parent, or sibling, including step-parents, children, and siblings. In the spirit of fairness Treasury staff are advised not to provide assistance to entrants in the preparation of their submissions. Any questions can be directed to the contacts listed on the primary University Challenge page.
