The Treasury is giving New Zealand university students the chance to address some of the most important public policy issues facing the country.
The Treasury University Challenge aims to:
- Give university students a feel for the range of work the Treasury does
- Allow students to test their analytical skills on real life policy issues
- Reward excellence in public policy analysis
The University Challenge is an essay competition for university students at all levels and from all disciplines.
Students are asked to write essays (2,000 words) addressing one of three pre-set questions and submit them to the Treasury. The questions cover a wide range of social and economic policy issues so all level of university students in any discipline can enter.
The writer of the best essay will receive $2,500 towards his or her university fees at a New Zealand university for 2014.
