State Sector Performance (SSP) Group
Page updated 11 Apr 2008
Peter Mersi is a Deputy Secretary to the Treasury and manager of the State Sector Performance Group.
This group comprises work streams where the primary interest is improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the goods and services the Crown funds and/or regulates.
The core functions of the State Sector Performance group include assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of priority government sectors and entities; helping Ministers set expectations for state sector and entity performance; and measuring performance against these expectations. Another core function is analysing and advising on value-for-money base spending and on new spending in key Government agencies and sectors.
The work of this group broadly reflects the goals outlined in the Treasury's outcome of improved State sector performance, one of three outcomes which support government goals and where the Treasury’s contribution can make a positive impact on the lives of New Zealanders. However, staff in the group also undertake work relevant to all three outcomes.
