Economic Performance (EP) Group
Page updated 29 Oct 2009
Struan Little is an Acting Deputy Secretary to the Treasury and manager of the Economic Performance Group.
This Treasury group comprises work streams where the primary interest is to understand what determines growth in New Zealand and to advise the Government on the wide range of policies affecting economic growth.
The Economic Performance Group ensures the Treasury focuses on the pervasive and significant economy-wide issues that are expected to have the biggest effect on growth, explicitly identifying results that matter for the economy and testing against these results. This information is used to advise Ministers on key policy levers that could be used to improve growth outcomes. The Economic Performance Group also tests frameworks and scans critical economic areas to ensure issues are identified early and raised with Ministers.
This work broadly reflects the goals outlined in the Treasury’s Economic Growth outcome, one of three Treasury outcomes that support government goals and where the Treasury’s contribution can make a positive impact on the lives of New Zealanders. However, staff in the group also contribute to work relevant to all three outcomes.
