Tony Hartevelt is a Deputy Secretary to the Treasury and manager of the Central Agencies Group.
In addition to its role as the Government’s lead economic and fiscal advisor, the Treasury has a role as one of the State sector's three ‘central agencies'.
The Treasury's Central Agency group co-ordinates the Treasury’s interaction with the two other Central Agencies – the State Services Commission and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The Treasury’s central agency role involves helping the Government identify and address public sector performance issues. The Treasury works with the other central agencies to co-ordinate strategy and priorities, helps ensure the Government’s strategic intent for the State Sector is reinforced and that action is taken by relevant agencies to address any issues that might arise.
