Visiting Research Fellowships
Page updated 19 Jul 2013
Under the Visiting Research Fellowships programme, the Treasury sponsors academics to spend a period at Treasury working on a project of mutual interest.
Details
The Research Fellowship typically extends for a period of three to twelve weeks, but may take the form of a sabbatical of six months or more. Up to three Research Fellows are sponsored per year.
In some cases, the Research Fellow works on his or her own project - but one which is of interest to the Treasury - and interacts with staff during his or her stay. In other cases, the Fellow works directly on a specific Treasury project with Treasury staff. In addition, Research Fellow usually gives a seminar for Treasury staff during their stay.
Typically, the salary costs of the Research Fellow are met by their home institution, while Treasury contributes some funding towards travel, living or research costs.
Graduate students (candidates either for Masters or PhD degrees) are not eligible for appointment as a Visiting Research Fellow.
See Previous Visiting Research Fellows for a list of academics who have completed Research Fellowships at the Treasury since 2003.
There is no deadline for receiving proposals for Visiting Research Fellowships. Proposals should be submitted electronically by emailing a completed proposal form in MS Word (available for download below) and emailing it, as an attachment, with your CV also attached, to the Treasury email address below. A signed hard copy should also be sent in the post to Treasury Academic Linkages Coordinator.
